Clayton MacDonald
Associate Minister
One Interesting Fact about Clayton MacDonald.
I am a huge fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Michigan State Spartans, which makes life here in Northern Indiana rather interesting. I often joke about living in enemy territory, and use it as a further excuse to study as much as I can about the Tigers and Spartans…even in the offseason.
What do you do here at SMCC?
I am the Associate Minister here at the church, which I take to mean that I fill in the gaps wherever I am needed. My main focus is working with the Middle School & High School students, but I also dabble in preaching on occasion, coordinating the website and other technological functions, casting vision, and anything else that I get asked to do.
How did you learn about Jesus?
I first learned about Jesus when my Dad retired from the Navy and moved to Michigan in order to have a relationship with me. We began attending church, and I got involved with Sunday School, then weeknight children’s programming, and by the time I was in High School I was involved as a Student Leader and was teaching Middle School students during the week.
Favorite Book?
I could legitimately copy and paste all of Brian’s answer to this question, which is rather funny to me. But if I had to narrow down my answer and not copy Brian’s answer, I would begin with: The Harry Potter Series as I was growing up, Abba’s Child during my High School years, and ‘Currently’ Love Does by Bob Goff!
Favorite Coffee?
I enjoy pretty much all coffee. But I would have to say that my favorite is Highlander’s Grog.
You will never see me without…
My phone, my backpack, or a pen. My phone and pen are always in my pocket, and they are essential to navigating daily life. My backpack is always in my backseat, and it contains my macbook, books I’m reading, and my journals.
Favorite Verse?
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV
